Piano Immersion Program
Curriculum Learning Experience from Showcase Music Academy
Instructors
Comprehensive piano curriculum designed by our leading teachers for the musically inclined piano students. The courses will cover genres of classical, jazz, and pop, with specific attention on composition and improvisation. Foundations of music history, ear training, and music theory are integral elements which are unique to this complete and immersive learning experience. Due to limited availability, individual auditions of applicants is required for entry into the Piano Immersion Program. Weekly, students of this program will be scheduled the below classes:
Level 1: (equivalent of RCM Prep A – Level 4)
student prerequisite: RCM Prep A – 5
This basic level focuses on introducing children to constructive ways of expressing themselves through music. Already at this age, we take great pride to ensure that students have a solid foundation in technical facility. Currently available in private lesson format. A regular masterclasss ensures optimal individualized attention plus offers the synergy of working with peers of the same age.
+ 30 minutes of classical piano and piano technique
+ 30 minutes of practice coach session
+ 30 minutes of composition and ear training with Dr. Ryan Trew
(or basic history for context depending on student requirement)
+ participation in all practice performances and recitals
+ 1 masterclass included per term
+ technical examinations
Level 2: (equivalent of RCM Level 5-8)
student prerequisite: RCM Level 4 or equivalent
After successfully completing the Level 2 of this program, our students will be able to absorb and to use fundamental musical knowledge in performance, composition, and ear training. Students will be able to write simple pieces, perform a majority of their music from memory, and be able to improvise on themes which will help them develop their creativity, concentration, and curiosity.

Level 3: (equivalent of RCM Level 9-ARCT)
student prerequisite: RCM Level 8 or equivalent
By the end of this program, the students will have a repertory as well as a portfolio of their own music which can be shared with listeners on various platforms and/or venues. The student will have obtained technical mastery of the instrument to improvise in a variety of styles, and tackle upcoming ARCT pieces successfully.

Although the program is divided into 3 levels, each level is designed to take between 2 to 3 years to complete, depending on the prerequisite conditions of the student.

Our son started taking lessons from Dr Carl in late Spring 2022. Prior to Dr Carl, even though he was already playing quite well, there were always a few measures in the repertoire that he can’t seem to perfect. We always felt there was some technical fundamentals that our son didn’t learn fully and this reflected in some of the more technical areas of some music pieces he played.
With Dr Carl’s passionate, patient, meticulous and methodical teaching, our son is playing at his highest level that we, as parents, have seen in years. And he has provided good structure, especially around repetition on those fundamentals, as well providing insight on his interpretation of the music. This helps in our son’s further growth and understanding of how each composer intended the pieces to be played.
Ever since our young son started private lessons with Mr. Domenico, his technical and interpretive skills on the piano have improved immensely. Mr. Domenico is an ideal teacher for young children. He is patient and kind but firm and disciplined in his teaching style. He has instilled a drive in my son to perfect his skills. My son recently passed his RCM examination with ease achieving an honours with distinction grade. We are grateful to Mr. Domenico for making this possible.
