This pre-Suzuki method includes the use of Adventures in Violinland by Shirley Givens. The books are full of fun activity pages and intergrates games, solfege, and rhythms for very young children. In group classes, singing and ear training games will be incorporated along with the books.
This program provides students the foundation to build upon through a focus on tone production by working on proper bow and violin postures. The classes will move from left to right hand techniques before progressively combining them together. Students will work on having each finger being placed on the violin through a variety of short pieces to give them small and achievable goals. Basic bow techniques will be introduced midway. Legato, staccato, and detache are the basic bow strokes the classes will develope. Through these progressions, students will work towards producing a consistent, beautiful, and ringing tone.
