Canadian pianist Melody, currently furthering her musical education by pursuing a Master of Music (MMus) in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia under the tutelage of Dr. David Fung, has recently added to her accolades by winning bronze at the 2023 Vancouver International Music Competition.
Melody has been recognized for her exceptional musical talents, receiving scholarships such as the Johann Strauss Foundation Scholarship, Willena Evans Awards in Music and the London Music Scholarship Foundation Endowment Awards. Her dedication to expanding her musical horizons is evident through her active participation in various competitions and festivals. She won the Young Artist Award at the 2017 Canada International Music Competition (CIMC-MOMA). Melody has also achieved notable placements at renowned music festivals, including the Kiwanis Festival and Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, both in Canada and Asia.
Her musical endeavors have also led her to participate in esteemed music festivals like Orford Musique Music Academy and Adamant Music School, where she was awarded scholarships and participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists.
Melody’s summer plans for 2024 are both exciting and enriching. She will embark on a tour in China, showcasing her talents through solo and chamber recitals while also sharing knowledge through masterclasses. Additionally, she has been accepted to the prestigious AlpenKammerMusik in Austria, where she will immerse herself in the study and performance of chamber music alongside esteemed professional musicians from around the globe. Furthermore, Melody has earned a full scholarship to the 2024 Seattle Piano Institute, where she will undergo intensive studies under the guidance of professors from the University of Washington. These opportunities signify her continuous growth and dedication to her craft. Later in the summer, she will also organize the Goldenears Chamberfest, a chamber community outreach festival that she co-founded back in the summer of 2023.

Melody’s passion for music has taken her on performance tours across Europe, Asia, and North America, with memorable concerts in Austria and the Czech Republic. She has studied under the guidance of accomplished pianists and pedagogues such as Professor Tina Yanchus, Professor Brett Kingsbury, and Dr. Megan Chang. Additionally, Melody has explored various musical pathways, including piano duos with Professor Leslie Kinton, chamber music with Professor Rena Sharon, Dr. Kyung Kim, and harpsichord studies with Professor Borys Medicky.
