Pianist-Violinist Ting Pan, is an active recording artist, adjudicator, ensemble, chamber and recital performer. She often performs with internationally acclaimed artists, ensembles, operas, and professional symphonies. An advocate of new music, Ting can be seen performing World Premieres. She often appears globally in solo, chamber and early music concerto concerts as their soloist, Concert Master, principal leads, orchestral keyboardist or as their harpsichordist. Her European and North American recitals received such praises as “most artistic, imaginative and colourful.” In her ensemble and orchestral pursuits, Ting has worked with many renowned conductors such as Frank Klassen, Les Dala, Vittorio Parisi, Dr. Centeno, Ken Hsieh, Dr. Tim Paul, Jesse Read, Bruce Pullan, Jin Zhang, just to name a few.
Ting currently enjoys a rewarding career as an international performer and maintains an active studio in Vancouver, Canada. As an educator, she teaches multiple disciplines and all levels and ages for piano, violin, theory and musicianship. Her interest lies in understanding performance practice, the origins and the philosophical/psychology effects behind the various pedagogy approaches around the world. She is constantly honing her skills in teachings and collaborations. She is constantly researching various pedagogy methods as they provide multiple insights into the unique learning styles of each individual in various stages of their life. Ting incorporates these diverse pedagogy methods, elements and experiences into her many years of teachings and coachings. Ting highly enjoy guiding and preparing her own and her colleagues’ students for exams, auditions and festivals. She finds it very rewarding to be able to help facilitate the process for the students and to see their progress and growth; while enjoying figuring out multiple paths, methods for them to achieve their goals.
Over the course of her 20+years of teachings, her students have done very well in competitions, exams and festivals. Many are gold medalists, scholarship prizes, and trophy winners/recipients who had been invited to perform for galas and recitals world wide.
Many of her students continuously achieve first class honors with distinction and are also RCM gold medalists’ winners for BC and Yukon in multiple disciplines over the years. They can be seen performing for The Celebration of Excellences recitals in addition to other concerts.
Under her tutelage, many of her scholarship winner students have gone on to pursue professional studies (undergraduate and graduate degrees) under full scholarships at prestigious musically renowned institutions and conservatories world wide. Most notably in CA, EU and USA such as NYU, USC, Berklee school of music, UCLA, Manhattan school of music, Peabody conservatory, UBC, University of Victoria, University of Toronto to name a few.
Through her academic career, Ting studied and performed under many world class musicians such as Dr. Daniel Pollack, Dr. Sasha Starcevich, Donna Fishwick, Dr. Dean Kramer, Dr. Claire Wachter, Dr. Eugene Skovorodnikov, Dr. David Riley, Jasper Wood, Dr. Eugenia Choi, Dr. Dorfmann, Amanda Chan, Doreen Oke and the late Dr. Rogers.
Ting has won many medals and trophies from local music festivals and international competitions, most notably the International Steinbach Piano Competition. She was also the awards and scholarships recipient of these music competitions and festivals.
