Sarah Tatto holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the Vancouver Academy of Music, certificates in music performance, ESL teacher/tutor training, and a certificate in Kodaly music for children.
Sarah’s voice studies have taken her to Edmonton, Portland, New York and, Los Angeles. She has studied extensively in Europe, having participated in several international music academies and festivals, included two summers in Salzburg Austria, studying at the Mozarteum; in Urbania, Italy performing in an opera program with the Manhattan School of Music; study and performance in Modena, Santa Marghertia Ligure, Florence, Pietra Santa and the Truscia Opera festival.
Sarah is an inquisitive singer who has the desire to understand singing from both an artistic and scientific perspective. Currently, Sarah is studying to become a certified Vocologist* through a program headed by renowned voice scientist Dr. Titze. In addition to Vocology, Sarah is also completing requirements to become certified as a Speech Language Pathologist assistant and to also receive certification as a “Distinguished voice teacher”. Sarah also holds two certificates in ESL and as a result, her students frequently experience significant improvements in their accent reduction.
Sarah has been a recipient of the Barbara Eves-Motomochi Memorial fund from the Vancouver Opera Guild, has been a finalist with Jeunes Ambassadeur lyrique, was a finalist in the Spoleto/Vancouver voice competition, is alumnus of the Vancouver Opera Touring Ensemble and has been a chorister for several years with the Vancouver Opera.
Sarah is a member of the Canadian Actor’ Equity, the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers Association.
